Charley’s Destruction

Written on August 14, 2004 – 12:27 pm

Just an update. I will be away from my computer for the next week. My husband and I are going to Florida. We are going to lend a hand to our family members who are dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Charley.

His parents suffered damage to their home. My parents suffered damage to their vehicles. Fortunately my parents weren’t there when it happened so they were safe. They are in Texas since my sister just got back from Spain. So they are currently relying on family to let them know what damage they have, so they do not know for sure what other kind of damage they will find. They are anxious to get back home as soon as possible.

That’s the extent we know right now. We will know more once we get down there, but they are in need of supplies. With the continuing rain, it isn’t over and we are all anxious to get down there and do what we can.

I will post when I can. There is no power down there right now, so I don’t know when I’ll be able to give another update. We may be back by Wednesday or Thursday, but we are not sure. It all depends on the extent of damage and what needs to be done.
