iPod Scare

I thought my iPod had died. I went to sync it with all the new music I just purchased, and it told me there was a problem and it needed to be reformatted. I thought, no problem. I’ve got all my music stored on my computer. So I ran the updater to reformat. It failed. Then it seemed frozen, yet the computer was still recognizing it.

So I attempted a second time to reformat it. Worked fine, but it still appeared to be frozen. After searching the iPod Lounge forums, I tried one of their suggestions and it worked. I was able to reset it. I then proceeded to re-sync it and half way through it began clicking and told me it couldn’t write to the disk. Of course I panicked, but I quickly realized it needed to be charged, so I plugged it in and let it charge for a few hours. Then I plugged it back into my laptop and it worked fine.

So I have my iPod back, thank goodness and all is well. I’m pretty sure the problem was with the Firewire adapter I use. I realized only yesterday during this whole ordeal that it works much better to plug in the Firewire card and let the computer recognize it and make it available first, then once that is ready, plug in the iPod to the card. When I did that it worked like a charm.

Previously I was plugging the iPod into the card, then plugging the card into the computer. And I kept having so many problems with it. Duh!

I’m just happy to have my iPod back and all my music. I have now picked up my audio book (Deception Point by Dan Brown) where I left off before I ran off to Florida. And I’ve got all my music in there for when I feel like a tune, instead of a spoken word.
