Lasik a success

I was -7.00 yesterday (count fingers at 3 feet) before the lasik procedure. This morning, I went back for my first post-op, and am able to read 20/20.

I am feeling good. No pain. Just a little itching. I have to sleep with the goggles, but around the house, I can take them off. I still can’t use the computer, so my hubby is typing this out for me. I will give more details later in the week.

Knitting Break

I’m off to knit for a few hours today because starting this afternoon, I won’t be able to knit or read until Monday or Tuesday. I’m having LASIK surgery. I won’t be able to get on the computer either, so no more knitting news till next week.

LASIK

It’s official. I will be going in to have LASIK surgery tomorrow afternoon. I’m so excited. I had my pre-op yesterday and everything went great. For reference purposes, my current vision (before LASIK) is count fingers at 3 feet. They measure it that way once you go past 20/400. So I’m pretty blind right now without glasses or contacts. I’ll post my new vision after the procedure and let you know how it went.

In other news, I just got a new computer at work. It’s so nice and fast. :) It’s a 3GHz P4 with 1GB of RAM and an 80GB hard drive. I’m also running dual 19” flat panel LCD monitors on 128MB of video RAM. It’s running XP Pro and it’s pretty awesome so far.

I just got through installing all the software I need for work and transferring my files from my old machines. Hopefully nothing will mess up when I next start compiling source code.

New Music

We’re having XM installed in my new car. We already have it installed in my husband’s truck and have been just moving it between vehicles when we go on trips. No more! I’ll have my own to play with. Can’t wait to start programming my favorite channels.

And yeah…I haven’t had a chance to take a photo of my car yet, but as soon as I do, I’ll post a picture. I have to send one to my family, anyway.

The Jetta

We traded my 2002 Nissan Pathfinder in for a 2004 VW Jetta. Lower monthly payment, better gas mileage, cheaper insurance. It’s silver and I love it.

Camping

We went camping this past weekend and had a great time. It was quite cold, but we were all bundled up well and had a really hot fire going to keep us warm. We ate very well. We had a smoked ham and potatoes au gratin Friday night, then Saturday night we had a roast and seasoned potatoes. Very good stuff.

We went on a hike Saturday and met a couple from North Alabama. Later then came to our camp site and hung out with us and ate dinner with us. We had a blast.

Sunday was pretty much wasted. DH slept on the way home, then I took about a 3 hour nap later in the day. Yesterday was nice…relaxing but it wasn’t quite so blah. I didn’t do much knitting but I went to the bookstore and finally used the gift card I got for Christmas. I got 2 books by Anita Shreve and one by Debbie Macomber.
