2005

Happy New Year to everyone! We had a great time on New Years Eve. We went to a wedding and reception for some friends and they had a great band playing at the party. It was a lot of fun…they had 3 kegs and tons of wine, so it was an interesting time. We rang in the New Year with beer and dancing.

Saturday was pretty much a dud. I knit and watched tv while my husband slept. Then he got up and went out to play disc golf and I fell asleep for a few hours. But once I got up, I felt so much better. We went to some friends and played Trivia Pursuit (I got the 90s one for Christmas). Slept in yesterday, then went out to play more disc golf and came home to clean house. It was kind of sad to see the holidays end, knowing it’s back to work we go. But I’m glad we’re back to the regular schedule and don’t have to travel everywhere anymore.

I’m looking into getting LASIK sometime in the next few months. After hearing about Lacy’s experience, I’m so ready to get this done. I have an eye appt on Thurday (my annual checkup), so I’m going to wait and see what the doc says about my eyes. I was planning on going to a doctor in FL (about 6 hours away) to get it done, because they had the most reasonable prices, but then I found someone here locally who is equally priced, so I’m going to ask my doc about them. It would be nice to get it done locally so I don’t have to drive that far every few months. Cross your fingers that all goes well and I can get it done this month or next.

You’ll love it! No Lasik when I had mine, but I had RK.. still 20/20 after 12 years. :-) Pretty good since I hated my glasses and couldn’t wear contacts. Its nice waking up and actually being able to see the clock with out having to hunt up glasses.

Rayne, I hope you can get the surgery locally that would be so much easier on you all the way around. Just wanted to say that my brother in law had the surgery some years ago and he had worn glasses/contacts since childhood. He’s had excellent results. Never heard him complain since.

I work for an eye doctor and am familiar with LASIK. Most people have great success. Just make sure that, wherever you go, they offer a “lifetime” follow-up plan and do not charge you for any future enhancements if needed. And remember, even with LASIK, you will eventually need glasses for reading at some point (presbyopia is related to the lens, not the cornea, and hits anytime after age 40) and probably cataract surgery when you’re older (a cataract is clouding of the lens—we all get it if we live long enough).

            Good luck! :)
