Great Bargain

I just got back from visiting my LYS and I got a great bargain. The lady there was really nice this time. I was wanting some Berroco Pronto in white, but she only had 5 balls of bright blue and I need 10. It’s tough trying to find enough of a yarn that has been discontinued. But I saw her using a ball winder and swift to untangle some yarn and noticed she had two of them sitting on the desk. So I asked her if she sells them. She said no, but she gave me her old one. It sticks some when winding but I was able to wind a whole skein of Summer Tweed with hardly no trouble at all. So I was able to get a free ball winder that works pretty well. I’m so excited. I definitely need a swift now. LOL! It will make things so much easier.

The main reason I went in was because I was interested in some Cascade 220 so I could make another felted bag. I love how Booga turned out and I want something bigger. My booga is a handbag. I saw a felted bag in the shop that was pretty big…tote size. So I asked her about it and she gave me a copy of the Fiber Trends pattern. I will have to go back at some point and see if she has some yarn I can use for it. It recommends 8-ply Woolpak, but I think she only had the 14-ply. I didn’t buy the Cascade, because I’m trying to be good and wait till I get a few more projects completed before I start going hogwild buying more yarn again. I’m so surprised…I’ve visited her shop before and she’s practically ignored me. Today, she was so nice and obviously, very generous. I felt I should get something because she was being so nice, so I bought a book…Knit Lit. I can’t wait to start reading it. I read one little section and it was pretty good. I had a very productive visit to my LYS, suprisingly and I plan to go back when I find the need for more yarn or supplies. She mentioned that she’s considering stocking Noro, which is a big deal, because I’ve heard the suppliers are horrible. She also had some Lantern Moon baskets. I really liked the rice basket, but again, I was good and resisted the urge to just randomly buy stuff. But her stock is better than it was the last time I was there. And she was so much nicer this time.
