On Hiatus

This site is on indefinite hiatus…with summer and other things in life, I just do not have the time or desire to continue posting right now. I will leave everything up because Textpattern is also running my knitting site which I plan to keep up, just less frequently.

Check back on occassion…I might be back at some point. Thanks to everyone who reads my site. I still occassionally read my blog list, but even that has gone to the way side.

Everyone enjoy a wonderful summer.

Kitchen Fix

I finally started working on the kitchen cabinets. I finished putting the primer on the cabinets and doors. Then I put the first coat of paint on the cabinets. We hope to get the doors painted and the second coat of the cabinets this weekend. But it feels so good to have done something with it finally. We started back in May of 2004, and just never got around to actually getting it done.

I’m so happy. I can see the end approaching. I will be so glad to be done and have that task behind us…maybe we’ll be able to move on to some of the other things we want to work on in the house.

First Sock Complete

First Sock Complete

I’ve officially completed my very first sock. I’m using the sock pattern in The Purl Stitch and it was very easy to follow. My heel came out a little big for my foot, and the cuff is a little wide, but overall the sock fits pretty well. I like it. Can’t wait to start sock #2. The toe was tough, with so little stitches left on the needle, but I managed and I’m very proud of my accomplishment. Now I look forward to working on the matching sock.

Baby Blanket

Baby Blanket

Here’s the blanket I’ve been working on. It’s my way of starting early. As my MIL said, it is for my Hope Chest. :) It’s an easy pattern and I love the way it’s coming out. It’s my mindless project, because I don’t really have to pay too much attention to detail when I work on it. I’m almost out of yarn and I went out today to get some more. I thought I’d have enough, but apparently not. Of course, I couldn’t find any of the variagated yarn. I found white, but with it alone, I can’t finish, so I’m going tomorrow to Hobby Lobby to see if they have any. I will be very disappointed if I can’t find any more yarn to finish this project.

Pronto is Here

Berroco Pronto

This is the beautiful Pronto yarn that I will use to make mom’s sweater (Blanche from Berroco website). It sure got here quick, thanks to Priority Mail. :) It’s so pretty and soft, I really need to hurry up and finish something, so I can start working with this yarn. I know it’s going to work up quick. I’ve finally gotten some pictures of my all my progress, so I’ll be posting them over the next couple of days. I’m going to run out of yarn on the baby blanket I’m working on, so this weekend I’ll need to run to the store and get some more. The winder doesn’t work as well as I’d hoped but I think it may have to do with the yarn. So I’m going to try again with a different yarn.

Not much to report

I know I haven’t posted here in what seems like forever, but there really hasn’t been much to report since we got back from FL. We’ve just been busy with work.

We have been working on getting the boat ready for the spring/summer. We got our fishing licenses and passed our boating exam, so we will be getting our boating classification added to our driver’s license shortly.

My eyes are doing okay. Today has been rough, fuzzy vision, but overall, they are fine. I went in Monday and my vision was -.5 in the right and -.25 in the left, so they aren’t 20/20, but he said that’s normal for someone with as bad vision as I had.

We’ve gotten hooked on the current Survivor series. Since there are two guys from Alabama; Bobby Jon went to my same college, which is a big thing since it isn’t a very big school yet. It’s been fun and amazingly this is the first time I’ve gotten into any of the Survivor series. But this one has been fun to watch.
