2nd trimester begins!

I’ve begun my 2nd trimester. Yeah! It’s been a worrisome and somewhat stressful 13 weeks, praying that my little one stays put and continues to grow. Even now, it’s still somewhat hard to grasp. I don’t feel anything yet, I’m not as sick, my energy is very slowly coming back. Everyone keeps asking me how the baby is doing. Well, I can only guess that everything is fine. I haven’t heard the heartbeat since the ultrasound 6 weeks ago. I haven’t had any unusual pains, so I’m assuming that everything is fine. So far it seems to be going well. Which I’m ever grateful for. My next appt is in two weeks and we’ll finally start hearing the heartbeat with the doppler. And I’m hoping that we’ll be able schedule our u/s.

We’ve picked out names but are keeping them to ourselves until we find out the gender. Then we’ll tell everyone if it’s a boy or girl and tell them what his/her name is.

I do think that now that I’m in the 2nd trimester, things will start going a little quicker. It seems like it took me forever to get to this point. I added a picture of my belly to my flickr account. The link is in the sidebar. The picture was taken at 11 weeks. You can definitely tell I’m pregnant when I wear certain clothes, especially maternity shirts. Which, I need to get more of. Most of my regular shirts are getting to short to cover my belly enough and even my good ol t-shirts are getting snug around the belly. :) I don’t have enough pants to make it through the work week, so I need to get one or two more. And I need another one or two pairs of shorts. The ones I currently have are still a little big, but I got them anyway, since I knew I’d grow into them.

And I need to get a swimsuit of some sort to wear. I’m sure we’ll be spending plenty of weekends at DH’s cousin’s lakehouse, so I want to be able to go swimming. I’m thinking a bikini with a shirt over it. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to show my belly off, but a two-piece is much easier to deal with and probably less constricting.

Anyway. not much else going on. We haven’t made too much progress with the nursery. It’s still a mess and there’s a lot of junk still in there that we need to clean out.

Blanche Gone and Other Knitting News

Blanche has been ripped back to a pile of yarn. I didn’t like how it came out. I didn’t like how the back had the same cable pattern as the front. I didn’t like how the two pieces were uneven. I even showed mom. She liked it but was fine with me frogging it and using the yarn for the baby. So I may eventually do a blanket. It’s a nice thick cotton, so it will make a pretty warm blanket.

I’m also thinking of frogging Chamomile for now. Sadly I only have the back to finish but my gauge is much bigger than it’s supposed to be. Which would be fine, but I’m worried about running out of yarn. And besides that, it’s not like I’m going to be wearing it anytime soon anyway what with my belly swelling. So I’ve thought about frogging it and starting it over with the right gauge next year when I (hopefully) get my figure back and can actually get some use out of it. Then I thought about starting the dolman sweater I’ve been wanting to make forever, and thought, why? It’s not like I’ll be able to wear it any time soon either. Since I’m due in October, I’m not expecting miracles, so I doubt I’ll fit into it this winter. So that’s going to wait another year also. What does that leave?

My blasted sock that I can’t seem to ever finish. And my crochet blanket that only needs to be pieced together. And of course, after I finished it, I realized my mistake and how I could have made things easier on myself. It would have worked on Blanche also. When I have to make more than one of a piece that only gives inches in the pattern. Figure out how many rows make up those inches and work the rest to the figured number of rows, instead of guesstimating the measurement each time. That makes seaming much easier later on. But as a newbie, I didn’t realize this, so I have a bunch of squares that are definitely not even. And I’m still plugging away _(very slowly)_ at my quilt and my granny square gingham afghan. Those are my two HUGE projects that don’t bother me if they take forever to finish. Those are my two projects that I do because they are fun, not because I’m yearning for the FO.
