Solids
19 February 2007
We started Amelia on solids this weekend. She gets just a little bit of rice cereal once a day. Enough to start getting her familiar with eating from a spoon. I have to admit, right now it’s kind of fun. I know that will change pretty quick and I’ll wish she could stay on the bottle forever, but for now I’m enjoying watching her experience this new way of eating.
She’s actually doing pretty well. She spits it out of course, but not nearly as much as I expected. She actually eats more than she spits out. And this evening she was even opening her mouth wanting more. It was very cute!
But the poor thing had her 4-month checkup today and she wasn’t happy about it. She started getting fussy as soon as we got in the exam room. Maybe she remembered her last visit a week ago when the doctor messed with her ears so much. She definitely doesn’t like when I lay her down on the table. Then she had to get her shots and she screamed. I felt so bad for her. She was extra fussy this evening, probably from the shots, but she’s doing okay.
I will be glad when we’re done giving her the antibiotic. That stuff is so sticky, it’s gross. And it makes her spit up and her pee smell worse! Bleh! Only a few more days to go, but the doctor said her ear infection is clearing up, so that’s good news.
