I’m almost done with the strips on the autumn afghan. I’ve got 2 more strips to add. Then I have 2 rounds of single crochet for the border and it will be finished. Woohoo! I worked on it a little this morning, then I had to go grocery shopping. I’ve since been working on the pinwheel jacket. But the progress is steady, again. I had plans to work on it this past week, but I was sick in bed all week.
I got Amelia’s bug and apparently it hit me harder than her. I was pretty much sleeping all day long for about 4 days. Ugh! I got nothing done! Yesterday, we went to the lake and went swimming. We also went fishing and I caught 2 fish in about 30 minutes. yeah! So it was fun. Amelia had a blast swimming. She loves the water!

Getting Closer

Pinwheel Progress
I promised I’m post a photo of my progress when I had something to show. Well here it is.
I’m about to add the fourth color, then it will be a few more rounds and I’ll get to the armhole round. That one sounds complicated so I’ll have to sit down and figure it out before I go crazy. I’m not enjoying the changing of colors. I love how it’s turning out, but it’s a pain because you change colors right at a yarn-over, which makes it a little more difficult. But so far it’s such an easy knit. I’m really having fun with it.

Cables in the Wall – It's Unheard Off!
I don’t remember my father cutting any holes in the walls when running new cable except where he wanted the cable to come out to the plate.
This is a house probably built around the same time that my current house was built. So why is it that cable companies insist on going through the closets. To me, cables hanging in the closet is almost as tacky as they are hanging in the room itself. Why can’t they go through the wall?
We called the cable company to come out and install a new cable outlet in our living room. The guy comes out and says, oh, well drop it down in your closet and run it through the wall to the other side, trying to make me think I won’t see the cable. Duh! It’s hanging in the closet. My closet, that I use everyday. Of course I’m going to see it. Heck this is something we can do. The reason we called was because we wanted it run through the wall.
I just don’t understand the big deal. My dad used to do it all the time. Speaker wires, tv cable, etc. I remember yelling to him up in the attic from the floor telling him I could hear the cable but couldn’t quite see it yet, then when I saw it, grabbing it and yelling that I got it.
I’ve never heard of cables going through the wall from one side to the other, till I got to this house and there were cables hanging in every closet. Yuck! Why have they gotten so sloppy with cable installation?

Pinwheel Rounds
So I’m up to my 2nd color on the pinwheel sweater and I’m about to switch from dpns to circular. That will be nice. So far I’m really enjoying this project. It’s fun to knit and the yarn is nice to work with too. Of course 2nd color means nothing since it’s only 10 rounds on about 12 stitches, but hey, it’s something. Especially since I spent the whole afternoon in bed asleep trying to get rid of this bug I got from Amelia.
If she felt anything like I have felt today, I don’t blame her one bit for being as cranky as she was and crying. My whole body ached and felt sensitive to touch. I literally slept from about 12:30 to 4pm today. Ugh! Hopefully all the tylenol and nyquil I’m taking will help me get through tomorrow and this bug will go away soon.
Anyway, getting back to the subject at hand, I’ll get a picture up soon of my progress. I’d like to get a little more of it done and possibly be on the circs before I get pictures. It’s going pretty quick at the moment, but I know as it gets wider it will take much longer to do a round. But it feels good to be working on this project. Not sure why, but this one means a lot to me.

Pinwheel Sweater Cast On
I cast on yesterday for the pinwheel sweater then ripped back when I realized it wasn’t working. Instead of joining the first 8 stitches then knitting into the front and back, I knit f/b, then joined the 16 stitches. I think this resulted in a larger opening in the middle than I’m supposed to have. So I’m going to try (for the third time) to join the 8 stitches first, then double them. I always seem to have trouble getting started when using dpns. I don’t have needles long enough for magic loop and not enough of them for 2 circs. I could order them, but then I can’t start and from what I’ve done so far, I’m so excited to get started on this. After I ripped it back, I decided I really needed to do a swatch. So that’s what I worked on last night and after measuring in 3 different locations, I’m getting exact gauge of the pattern using the suggested needle size. Hurray! That’s rarely the case. So I’m ready to try again. Hopefully this time, I can manage to double my stitches without getting all confused and twisted.

Baby Hat Finished
I’ve spent a few hours at Starbucks this afternoon and got the hat done. I think it came out pretty cute. Somehow the pattern has you make an odd number of eyelets, so that when you weave the i-cord through you end up having to skip an eyelet or you’ll have one tail inside the hat and one outside the hat. I probably should have searched for an errata because I knew one of the sizes had that problem. Just didn’t think the toddler size would. Oh well. And I probably should have made a longer i-cord, but I was getting tired of making it. I should probably get an i-cord maker. It would be much easier. LOL!
It’s so great to be able to finish a project so quickly. I love those instant gratification knits.
