Walk, walk, walk

Amelia is just about to take off on foot. She can do it really well, as long as she’s holding onto something.

I think her car has really helped her out with the walking skills. She will walk all over the place holding onto our hands. Both hands right now, but I think with a little practice, she’ll be able to go one-handed, then on her own.

Several of her classmates at daycare have been and/or are moving up because they have started walking. Her teachers keep saying NO! They don’t want her to move up and leave their class. :) She’s a favorite.

Techy yet Mom-ish

I’ve been browsing the internet and have found some gorgeous looking blogs. It makes me want to do another redesign of this site. I want it to look sophisticated and techy yet have that fun “mom” feel to it at the same time. How do I accomplish this with minimal frustration?

Another huge problem I have is that I spend so much time designing the layout, slicing it up, converting it to HTML and tweaking it here and there so that the end result looks at least somewhat similar to the Photoshop image, that by the time it goes live, I’m sick of looking at it. Granted, I don’t look at my site very often, but I’d like to have a layout that doesn’t turn me off once it goes live.

So gross!

There’s a first time for everything I guess and today was one of those days. It was a gross one too. She pooped in the bath tub. Fortunately we have one of those little plastic blow up tubs that fits perfectly in the big tub. That’s what we bathe her in. So most of the poo was contained and I managed to grab the thing and dump it outside. But it was the grossest thing I’ve had to endure as a new mom. Poop that disintegrated when it hit the water. poo infested water. Yuck!! Of course, I immediately had to call DH and tell him what happened. Because it was right after he left for work. Then I proceeded to call the grandparents and let them know what their previous granddaughter had just done. They thought it was hilarious and laughed. Of course.

The Sock Fits – Wrong Person

I showed the finished Thuja sock to my husband and he tried it on. It fits him perfectly! Which is pretty cool, but also sucks, because I know my dad’s feet aren’t as big as my husband’s. So they are most likely going to be long on dad. They are 100% wool so they will shrink if you are careful. Maybe that will help. Hopefully they won’t be too huge on him. I’ll just have to wait and see and cross my fingers. But it looked great on DH’s foot. Go figure.

Tunisian Dishcloth

Tunisian Dishcloth

The tunisian dishcloth is finished. I really like how it came out. I bound off using a single crochet and followed through by doing sc around the rest of the edges. I think I’m really going to like using this dishcloth in the kitchen. :)

One Sock Down, One Sock to Go

Thuja #1-1

I finished the first of Dad’s thuja socks. I also cast on this morning for sock #2. I didn’t get a picture last night of the finished sock because it was late when I wove in the ends and I went to bed. I actually finished it all but the grafting of the toe at my SNB but I don’t ever remember how to graft so I had to wait till I got home so I could look it up in a book. It wasn’t perfect but I really like how it turned out. I hope the second sock comes out just as nice.
